Puffy Woof

There is no universal washing schedule for every dog harness and leash. Everyday walking gear should be cleaned whenever it is visibly dirty, smells unpleasant or has been exposed to mud, salt water or heavy sand. For frequently used gear, a gentle clean every few weeks is a useful routine, with spot cleaning in between to stop build-up. Clean according to your dog's lifestyle A dog that takes short pavement walks will not soil equipment as quickly as a dog that swims, rolls in sand or explores muddy areas. Beach trips and dusty walks in Dubai may call for a rinse or wipe after every outing. Do not leave salt, sand or grime sitting around moving hardware such as buckles, clips and D-rings. Situation Suggested cleaning Short, dry everyday walks Spot clean when marked. Deep clean every few weeks. Beach or sea swim Rinse with fresh water soon after, then air dry fully. Muddy or dusty walks Shake off debris, wipe or hand wash, then dry fully. Pool days Rinse after swimming and let the gear dry before the next walk. Smelly or visibly dirty Wash straight away, whatever the schedule. This is a guide, not a rule. Your dog's coat, activity and the weather all change how often gear needs cleaning. Check the care instructions first Materials, prints and hardware react differently to washing, so follow the care instructions for your specific product rather than putting everything in the washing machine. Gentle hand washing in cool water with a mild soap is often the safest approach for patterned harnesses and matching leashes. If you cannot find care guidance for a Puffy Woof product, contact us and we will help. A simple cleaning routine Close buckles and clips so they do not snag the fabric. Shake or brush off loose sand and debris. Spot-test any cleaner on a hidden area first. Wash gently by hand in cool water with a mild soap, paying attention to the areas that touch your dog's body and your hands. Rinse thoroughly so no soap is left behind. Reshape the harness and air dry it away from harsh direct heat. Store it only when completely dry. Never put damp walking gear away. Moisture trapped in a bag or cupboard can lead to odours and wear. Inspect while you clean Cleaning is the ideal time to examine stitching, D-rings, clasps and buckles. Look for frayed webbing, loose threads, cracked plastic, bent metal and stiff or sticking clips. Stop using the item if any structural part is cracked, loose or badly worn. Cosmetic fading is different from damage that affects security, so judge the two separately. Keep a second set A spare harness and leash is useful while the main set dries, and it removes the temptation to use damp equipment. Puffy Woof's coordinated harness sets and leashes make it easy to keep a functional back-up while giving your dog a different look. Puffy Woof's adjustable harnesses are made from neoprene with a breathable mesh lining and are designed to be quick-drying for everyday use. If you are choosing a new harness, our How to Measure page shows how to take the right measurements. A lick mat is a textured feeding and enrichment surface that encourages a dog to lick food from grooves and patterns. It can make a small portion last longer and turn an ordinary snack into a supervised activity. Always use dog-safe foods suited to your pet's needs, introduce new ingredients gradually and count them within your dog's normal daily intake. In Dubai and across the UAE, a lick mat is especially handy on hot days when walks are short and your dog needs something to do indoors. For more ideas, see our guide to indoor activities for dogs during Dubai summers. What is a lick mat and how does it work? A lick mat has raised patterns, ridges or textured zones that hold soft food in place. Your dog has to lick slowly and persistently to clear it, which slows down eating and gives them something calming to focus on. Many owners use one while they work, cook or have visitors over, and for settling a dog after a busy walk. Seven easy lick mat ideas 1. Spread part of their regular wet food Use part of your dog's normal meal rather than adding an extra snack. Press a thin layer into the grooves so your dog has to work across the whole surface. 2. Soften their usual kibble Soak a measured portion of kibble in water until soft, then mash it across the mat. This gives a different texture without introducing a completely new food. 3. Use plain, dog-appropriate yoghurt If your dog tolerates dairy and your vet has no concerns, spread a small amount of plain, unsweetened yoghurt. Check the label carefully and never use products containing xylitol or unsuitable sweeteners. 4. Try dog-safe fruit or vegetables A little mashed banana, pumpkin or another ingredient already known to suit your dog can add variety. Do not assume every human food is safe. If you are unsure, check with your vet first. 5. Freeze it for a longer activity Once your dog is familiar with the mat, freeze a thin layer of suitable food. This can make the activity last longer, but supervise closely and avoid anything that is too hard for your individual dog. 6. Use it during grooming A lick mat can give your dog a positive, supervised distraction during brushing or other calm care routines. Position it safely and stop if your dog shows discomfort. 7. Rotate textures and spreads Vary which familiar soft food you use or which part of the mat you fill. Rotation keeps the activity interesting without steadily increasing the amount your dog eats. Which foods are safe to use? Stick to foods your vet is happy for your dog to eat, and keep portions small. A few foods are never suitable: Chocolate, grapes and raisins, and onions or garlic. Anything containing xylitol. This sweetener is found in some peanut butters, yoghurts and sugar-free products, so read the ingredients every time. Salty, sugary or heavily seasoned human food. If your dog has allergies, a sensitive stomach or a medical condition, ask your vet which spreads are suitable before you start. How to keep lick mat time safe Use the mat on a stable, non-slip surface. Stay nearby and supervise every session. Take the mat away if your dog starts to chew the silicone. Wash the mat after every use and check it for tears or damage before the next one. Count the food you use as part of the daily allowance. A microfiber dog towel is a practical choice for drying your dog after beach visits, swimming, baths and sandy walks. Its lightweight, absorbent fabric helps remove excess moisture, and it packs down small enough to carry on outings. For dog owners in Dubai and across the UAE, a dedicated dog drying towel makes post-adventure clean-ups easier. Whether your dog has been playing on the beach, enjoying a supervised swim or coming back from a dusty walk, the right towel helps keep paws, coats and car interiors cleaner. Why choose a microfiber towel for your dog? Microfiber towels are made from very fine synthetic fibres designed to absorb moisture efficiently. Compared with a bulky household towel, a good microfiber pet towel combines absorbency, light weight and portability. 1. It helps absorb excess water After a bath or swim, a microfiber towel helps remove excess moisture from your dog's coat. Press and blot the towel against wet areas instead of rubbing hard. Pay particular attention to the paws, belly, legs and tail. If your dog has a thick or long coat, work in sections and allow extra drying time. 2. It makes beach-day clean-ups easier Beach outings can leave dogs with damp sand on their paws, legs and coats. Removing loose sand before drying helps reduce the amount carried into your car or home. Move to an area away from loose sand and gently shake or brush off what you can. Rinse sandy paws or the coat if necessary. Use a clean microfiber towel to blot away excess water. Check between the toes and around other places where sand collects. Let your dog dry comfortably before storing the towel. Avoid rubbing sand against your dog's skin, particularly if the skin is sensitive or irritated. 3. It is light and easy to travel with A towel that is easy to pack is useful if you often take your dog out. Keep a clean towel in your walk bag or car for outings such as: Beach trips and supervised swimming. Bath time at home. Rainy walks and muddy adventures. Road trips and dog-friendly days out. Wiping damp paws before your dog comes inside. A compact towel lets you deal with unexpected messes without carrying a heavy household towel. 4. It can dry faster than a heavy cotton towel Microfiber towels generally dry quickly when wrung out and hung in a well-ventilated place. Actual drying time depends on the towel, how wet it gets, humidity and airflow. In the UAE, where temperatures can be high, do not leave a damp towel in a hot car. Let it dry completely in a ventilated spot before folding it into its pouch. 5. It keeps pet clean-up separate from your household laundry A dedicated dog towel keeps outdoor debris, loose fur and muddy paw marks away from your everyday bath towels. Wash it after particularly dirty outings and regularly according to how often you use it. Microfiber vs cotton dog towels: which should you choose? Both microfiber and cotton towels can dry a dog. The better choice depends on your dog's coat, how wet it gets and how much you value portability. Feature Microfiber towel Cotton towel Absorbency Designed to absorb moisture efficiently. Can absorb a lot of moisture, depending on the towel. Portability Often lightweight and compact. Thick bath towels can be bulkier. Drying time Often dries quickly with good airflow. Heavy towels can take longer to dry. Travel use Convenient for bags, outings and car kits. Suitable when size and weight are not a concern. Care Follow the product care label. Follow the towel's care label. There is no single best towel for every dog. Consider the towel's size, texture, absorbency, care instructions and your dog's comfort before choosing. How to dry your dog after a beach trip or bath Remove loose sand and debris. Gently brush or shake off loose particles before using the towel. Blot excess water. Press the towel gently against wet areas and avoid vigorous rubbing. Check the paws. Look between the toes and around the paw pads for trapped sand or debris, and clean gently as needed. Dry the coat. Work through the wet areas and follow any grooming guidance that suits your dog's coat type. Clean and dry the towel. Wash it as directed and let it dry completely before storing it. If your dog's skin looks irritated or your dog seems uncomfortable, stop rubbing the area and ask a vet for advice. What should you look for in a dog drying towel? Size: choose a towel that gives enough coverage for your dog's body. Absorbency: look for clear product information about the fabric and what it is designed for. Texture: pick a soft towel that is comfortable on your dog's coat and skin. Portability: a lightweight towel with a storage pouch is convenient for outings.
